The conference will be held at MSF headquarters at 14-34 avenue Jean Jaurès and will be broadcast live on this page in English and French here. Registration is required for people outside MSF; the registration form is available below.
The wars in Ukraine and Palestine are raging simultaneously on the fringes of the European Union, leading to intense political polarization. While the tension surrounding the war in Gaza is certainly more acute, both conflicts have given rise to numerous statements on the right to self-defense and the serious violations of international humanitarian law. NGOs, in particular Médecins du Monde and Médecins sans Frontières, have also had to take a stand in this highly charged context.
What do the Israeli-Palestinian and Russo-Ukrainian conflicts change and confirm for the humanitarian sector? How have they led to a reassessment of our working method, and challenged fundamental humanitarian principles? What debates have they sparked in the world of humanitarian NGOs? These are the questions addressed by the various contributors to this special issue of Alternatives Humanitaires, co-edited by Jean-François Corty and Rony Brauman. These questions will also serve as the guiding theme of the conference-debate.
Boris Martin, editor-in-chief of Humanitarian Alternatives, will be present at the event.

Immunization: new perspectives on vaccines - Conference with Lise Barnéoud
12/05/2017 - 06:00 PM 08:00 PM Lise BarnéoudWho profits from vaccination? Individuals? Society? Companies? Is vaccination efficient? Is it dangerous? Profitable? What are the factors influencing public opinion in this domain? Lise Barnéoud, science journalist and author of Immunisés ? Un nouveau regard sur les vaccins, has engaged in an investigation revealing multiple - and sometimes contradictory - realities observed in the French vaccination sector. She has carried out her investigation from three distinct viewpoints: the one of a mother who needs to decide whether to vaccinate her children or not; of a journalist leading an enquiry; and of a scientist analyzing how facts are built.
Lise Barnéoud was a Crash guest speaker at a conference on vaccination held on December 5, 2017. A discussion with Epicentre, Crash and the MSF Medical Department allowed us to exchange views on vaccinal policy, which remains a cornerstone of MSF operations and a recurring subject of discussion and controversy.
