Dans cette interview, Michaël Neuman décrit les conditions de vie misérables des personnes vivant dans les camps de Goma. Il dénonce la piètre qualité des standards de secours dont se satisfont les acteurs du système de l’aide et le phénomène de « normalisation » de la catastrophe touchant cette région.

Michaël Neuman describes his visit to Goma’s IDP camps, where he spent two weeks. He shares his dismay at the low level of assistance provided by the aid sector, especially when we recall that the Sphere standards, born precisely out of the failure of the humanitarian response in this same region of Goma in the mid-1990s, were conceived and championed by all of us.

MSF releases the podcast “MSF Speaking Out: The Hunting and Killing of Rwandan refugees in Zaire-Congo 1996-1997” describing the dilemmas, challenges and controversies faced by the MSF teams including: could MSF communicate publicly on the health condition of the refugees when its access to them had recently been denied? When it realised its teams were being used to lure and kill refugees, should the organisation cease its activities and condemn this manipulation?

Enquêter, secourir, Juger », qui vient d’être publié par la Maison des sciences de l’homme. Le livre revient sur ce qui s’est notamment passé au Rwanda. Pour en parler, Laurent Correau est en ligne avec l'universitaire Claudine Vidal, l’une des coordonnatrices de ce travail.

Over the last few years, Rwanda, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Syria have been places where situations of extreme violence took place. As witnesses and investigators of such, the authors of this book shed light on three key-moments that marked these tragic episodes:  the investigation, the intervention of emergency relief teams and the implementation of justice procedures leading to judgement.
